Fog is trapped between the panes and will not wipe off from either side.

A pane is cracked through, has a hole in it, or is dropping sharp pieces onto the sill.

The window slams shut, will not stay open, or one corner of the sash sits lower than the other.

The handle spins without moving the window, or the sash stops halfway and will not crank closed.

The sliding window screeches, jumps off its rail, or takes both hands to move even after I clean the track.

The latch will not catch, the window can be pushed open, or the lock no longer lines up with its keeper.

I can feel cold air around the closed sash and hear a faint whistle, but the glass and frame are not broken.

Mosquitoes get through a torn screen, or the whole frame is bent and falls out whenever I open the window.
